Born to Read Early Literacy Program

And the mother bear said "someone has been sitting in my chair". Remember the first time you heard those words? They were probably spoken to you as a small child as you lay in bed getting ready to sleep.

What wonderful memories the thought of having bed time stories read to you evoke these many years later. Why not bring that same feeling of delight and love to your child?

We are able to share stories, thoughts, dreams and values though the words written in the many books we have available to us in the Chestertown Library. Why not take the time to bring you child into the Library and read a book to them. It is a gift and a memory that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Remember we were "Born to Read"

The Friends of the Library invite you and your child (ages birth to 5 years of age) to participate in our "Born to Read" program. Once you have read 10 books to your child you are entitled to select a special book for him (her) to take home.

It is simple to participate:

Ask the librarian to give you a "Born to Read" form, or download one here. Then keep tract of the number of books you have read by writing down the title and date completed. As soon as you reach 10 books bring this form into the library and you and your child can pick out your gift.

Don't stop at 10 you are welcome to pick up another "Born to Read" form. What a great opportunity to build up your child's own library.
