TOWN OF CHESTER LIBRARY ENDOWMENT
The Town of Chester Public Library was founded in 1994. The first ten
years saw a growth, which necessitated our relocation twice. The Library
Board of Trustees is looking beyond — envisioning a 21st century library
that will continue to meet the technological, educational and social needs
of our community. In 2006, the Trustees established an Endowment Fund
to sponsor growth on a more permanent basis. The Library Endowment
Fund and town support enables us all to look beyond to the future of the
Library by providing perpetual support.
What is an Endowment?
It is a fund that is made up of gifts and bequests that is subject to a
requirement that the principal be maintained intact and invested to create
a source of income for an organization. An endowment requires that the
principal remain intact in perpetuity. It uses only the interest from the
fund.
